About Jeep Commander

The concept car that would become the Jeep Commander was first debuted at the 1999 auto show circuit. This would eventually influence the design of the third generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will be produced six years later. Although the concept car was of the same height as the Grand Cherokees that were in production at that time, it was approximately 8 inches wider.

The production version was first revealed at the New York Auto Show in 2005. The target demographic was drivers who wanted a SUV with three rows of seats, but without a large increase in size from the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
